Kimberly Lanham
Designer, Creator, Goal Conqueror
Kimberly Lanham was born and raised in the foothills of beautiful North Carolina in the latter part of the 1980's, before technology and cell phones made everything accessible at the click of a button. Her passions resided in losing herself in long novels and filling every notebook she could get her hands on with the beautiful images constantly swimming through her mind. Throughout adolescence she studied to absorb every technique, medium, and class in the field of art that was available to her. Thankfully, her parents recognized her talents and encouraged her through private lessons, school opportunities and numerous competitions. Kimberly has showcased her pieces in galleries in multiple states since she was quite young, and her artistic talents flourished with one-on-one instruction in paints, charcoal, watercolor, set design, illustration, and many more mediums.

At the age of 13, Kimberly was invited to attend classes at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem. There she completed a summer study where she learned of more organized and professional avenues to express the inner passion brimming inside her. Kimberly received multiple awards and certificates for her illustrations and paintings during her years in high school. She earned distinctive recognitions when she was selected as a showcase artist for a variety of media sources including North Carolina State Highway Safety Calendars, NC State Fair competitions, yearbook cover and page mural designs, and her set and costume designs with the school’s theater program. Her large scale mural creations remained throughout the school grounds for several years following her departure.

Her passion for art has continued to grow thereafter and, hungry for more knowledge after her secondary schooling, Kimberly dove into the fascinating world of tattooing. She achieved an advanced apprenticeship under well-known professional George Holderby of Guyandotte, West Virgina in 2009. She spent several years there helping others express themselves through the unique field of body art.

Upon relocating to her home state of North Carolina, Kimberly decided to further develop her skills by enrolling at Wake Technical College and has since achieved multiple certificates in Graphic Design, Web Design, and Design Basics. She graduated with an Associate of Arts and Sciences Degree in Advertising and Graphic Design in Spring 2021.

In 2018, Kimberly founded Khat Graphics in order to merge her talents in different fields of art into a single branded identity. She currently produces two different series of online comics that can be found on multiple social media platforms and comic sites. She is the instructor of wine glass painting classes at a community art center in Clayton, North Carolina.
Kimberly had the pleasure of joining Raleigh-based marketing communications company, Martin Communications, LLC, full-time in February of 2021 after a year of working on retainer for them. She gained valuable experience working in a fast-paced and deadline-prioritized environment, while collaborating within a team of other marketing specialists, designers, copywriters and consultants.

Today, in her spare time, Kimberly can be found in her comfortably small hometown enjoying her life and sharing her passion for art with her children, pets, and loved ones. Baking bread and composing delicious meals for her family is a welcomed responsibility most evenings, and she still enjoys curling up with a good book. She even finds a chance to put her kayak in the water from time to time!
